Hip Hop Dance is a style of movement characterized by bounces and rocks, executed to Hip Hop music. It has deep historical and social roots in African American culture, having emerged in Black communities living in 1970s New York. While frequently referred to as a singular dance style, Hip Hop dance is part of a whole culture of Hip Hop, that includes Deejaying, Graffiti, Emceeing, and Breaking.
In our Hip-Hop classes, we're passionate about keeping the culture intact. Depending on the particular class and instructor, you will be learning foundational movements and grooves, choreography, freestyle and/or street styles such as house, waving, animation and popping.
Contemporary dance is a style of interpretive dance that embraces innovation, blending techniques from various genres, including classical ballet, jazz, modern and lyrical dance. This genre of dance isn’t restricted by the rules that govern traditional dance forms. Instead, it relies on improvisation and versatility and is characterized by freedom of movement and fluidity, letting dancers explore the mind-body connection and ideally evoking emotion to an audience.
Our Contemporary classes are an exploration in body shapes, flow & technique. Come remind your body of all the movement it is capable of producing! You will play through oppositions of fluidity and rigidity, explore spatial awareness and kinetic energy and unearth the movement our bodies have been longing for. This is a great style for anyone who just wants to move and express themselves.
Heels is a highly sensual, fun & sexy class. This class is done in high heels (preferably stilettos) and incorporates genres of jazz, hip hop and burlesque. Adv Heels is recommended for dancers with multiple years of dance training in other styles.
Egyptian Belly Dance or Raqs Sharki, also called Egyptian cabaret, is a type of dance that has its roots in Egyptian social and folkloric dances but has been influenced by western dance genres.
In particular, from the beginning, it was influenced by vaudeville elements as one of the most influential figures in the history of Egyptian Raqs sharqi, Badia Masabni, started her career in vaudeville theatres.
In the Egyptian style, the movements tend to be more internalized and small than in other styles of belly dance. Even the smallest movement in Egyptian Raqs sharqi, if performed well, is quite dramatic. Egyptian Belly Dance also includes some ballet and ballroom dance influences, such as in footwork, in stance and arm positions.
Fusion Belly Dance is a modern Western form of belly dance that was created by fusing American Tribal Style belly dance and American Cabaret belly dance. Dancers frequently incorporate elements from Popping, Hip Hop, Egyptian or Cabaret belly dance, as well as movement principles from traditional forms such as Flamenco, Kathak, Odissi, and other folkloric and classical dance styles.
If new to belly dance, we recommend starting with Egyptian Belly Dance 101 before moving over to the Fusion style.

With its dynamic movement and fast-paced rhythms, jazz dance has evolved into many sub-styles, each with its unique flair and jazz dance moves. It’s difficult to give a conclusive definition of jazz, as it borrows from everywhere.
Broadway Jazz draws inspiration from staged theatrical dance and combines it with traditional jazz dance techniques. It is known for its dynamism, physical storytelling/dance mime, and use of props and costumes. Broadway jazz often features dramatic movement and very character-forward expressiveness, delivering a narrative through dance. Bob Fosse and Jack Cole are considered the pioneers of Broadway or Theatrical Jazz.
Jazz Funk sometimes called “street jazz,” is essentially a mix of jazz and hip-hop dance elements, but defined by its distinctness from hip-hop dance in the minds of the genre’s purists, while carving out a massive niche for itself in the music videos and stage productions of the 1980s.
Our jazz classes are focused on teaching the fundamentals of jazz dance along with strength & flexibility training. Class will consist of a warm-up, across the floor combinations, & center floor choreography. Dancers will learn techniques including isolations of the body, traveling & weight shifting, development of rhythms & complex patterns, and development of character and performance quality.
Tap Dance is a percussive dance style that originated in the United States in the 1700’s. Using shoes with metal plates to create sound, students develop coordination, precision, rhythmic skills, and musicality. Our classes draw from both the Broadway and the contemporary Rhythm-Tap styles and begin with a foot isolating warm-up, followed by rhythm and step-based skill building in both the center of the room and moving across the floor. Classes culminate in learning choreography.
Ballet is a theatrical dance that features highly formalized steps and movements. It uses body movements, music, and stage scenery to speak emotions, a story, an atmosphere, or a theme. Ballet is considered the foundation for many other dance styles, dating back to its origin in 15th century Italy.

Our ballet class "Ballet for EveryBODY" aims to break the sterotype that there is any one preferred type of dance body. No leotards or tights required!
